((Wow. Sorry for joining so late... do you mind?))
Kirra walked nervously into the great hall, here for the ceremony to make Rose the King's Champion. She didn't know if she would know anyone here as she tried to look over, or more accurately, through the throngs of people. Scouting around the back of hall, Kirra spotted Riana, her friend and another Queen's Rider trainee, standing alone. But not for long, as a man went over to stand beside her, bowing. Kirra grinned and weaved through the remainder of the crowd to stand beside Riana.
"Hello. Fancy seeing you here!" she exclaimed to Riana, and to Damien, she inquired, "And may I ask who you are?" Kirra lost the rest of their conversation to the general chatter of the crowd.
Kirra seemed to have grown out of her shyness in the years she had been in Tortall, for she knew she would not have been able to do that before. And that brought the attention back to Rose.
Kirra was just able to see a glimpse of Rose by craning her neck – wearing an amethyst tunic and silvery breeches with her sword laid out in front of her – before someone moved, blocking her view. However, Kirra could still hear perfectly fine.
The king announced, "Do you, Roseana of castlemaine, Distaff Knight and Mage, swear to protect Tortall and it's people? Do you swear to serve the country to your best abilities, come what may? Do you accept the position of King's Champion, alongside your other duties?"
Kirra bit her lip as she waited for Rose's reply. "I swear to do all that is possible to protect Tortall and it's people, to serve the country with the best of my abilities. And yes, I do accept the position of King's Champion alongside my other duties."
Finally, after what seemed like ages, King Roald announced, "You may rise, Lady Roseanna of Castlemaine, Distaff Knight and King's Champion!"
Kirra ginned and cheered along with the crowd. Kirra had met Rose in the Copper Isles, along with it some memories – more unpleasant than pleasant. But now, Rose was her friend, and it only seemed proper that Kirra would attend Rose's ceremony being appointed as King Champion.
