"I'm with the Queen's Riders," he explained, smiling. "May I ask your profession, Alli?"
Alli chuckled, wondering what he would say when he heard she was merely a helper for her father's farm. She never got the chance to answer, however. A woman had run into the street, yelling something about a fire. A smug smile crossed Alli's face. She knew something wasn't right, and to know that she had been correct only made her feel a bit smug.
She quickly snapped herself out of it. There was a fire to be put out, and she would most likely be needed to help. Scanning the streets and alleys, the girl tried to spot a source of water. Alli didn't have magic, like some of the others in the crowd, and so she couldn't help in that way.
Lysander was shouting out orders, an air of command seemed to hold him above the crowd. "We need a mage! Bucket chain! You, fetch the Lord Provost, and you, alert the palace!"
Alli cursed, for the only source of liquids she found were barrels of wine. Didn't these people know to sell water?! It was a basic necessity, for Mithros' sake! The wine would only act as an accelerant to the fire. Not knowing the protocol for fire extinguishing, all she could do was stand like an idiot. She felt helpless and immediately looked for someone who looked like they needed even the slightest bit of help.

"Yes, I have the Gift," the woman said, and Lysander nodded. "Good. Come with me." By now Lysander was cursing the Gods. The city did not need this right now. Worst of all, it had hit where there were many thatch roofs, and thatch caught fire insanely quickly. He could only pray. No. He couldnt' waste time with praying. He looked to be of the highest authority here, so he had to do something... More than something. He belted out orders, and soon the chain was forming - but where was the water?
Frustrated, Sander ran a hand through his hair. The Olurun was much too far to get water from there. So very odd that they couldn't find water. A buket brimming with it caught his sight, and he temporarily moved his attention unto the woman who had alerted him to the fire. "Are you alright, miss? You don't look too good. Is there magic in all of this?" It was always the first question. Is there magic? Where's the money? You asked those questions first.
He looked around at the crowd. So much to be done. He turned to a woman who was busily instructing the people around her. She looked knowledgable enough. "Are there any people in there?" he asked with a practised calm. It was so much easier to put out a fire when he had his rider group with him... They didn't look at him dumbly and ask stupid questions. That was all he could ask for.

Celes found a Bazhir stall that had some buckets of water, after a few moments of searching. The Bazhir who owned the stall was just standing there doing nothing, unsure of what to do. She directed him to start passing the buckets down the chain that was still raggedly being formed. She sighed, she hated fire with a passion, but as long as she didn’t get too close to it she would be fine. She fingered the scar on her cheek, she had gotten it when she was younger. She couldn’t remember how she got it or anything like that, but fire always seemed to make it itch. She watched the people pass the water down the line, they were actually beginning to look organized. Though some people were beginning to lag, she encouraged them to keep it up.
“Are there any people in there?”
Celes looked around to find the speaker, it was the man whose conversation that she had been listening in on and he was also the person who had gotten people to get into the chain formation. She shook her head, she had been near the building, just a few minutes before, really she was just passing it, but the people who owned the building had left, and locked the door behind them. "No one is in there. They went out, not five minutes ago."

[blue]"There's magic. I'm not strong enough to push it away by myself since it's already spread. Get some mages quickly,"[/blue] Meredith said wearily, her own voice sounding distant to her ears. Her heart was pounding, muting the other sounds in the background, and the world seemed to wash away in splotches of color. She was close to the point of unconsciousness and withdrew her Gift in a desperate attempt to remain on top of the situation.
Meredith sighed heavily and leaned against a pile of barrels. [blue]"I need water. No, we all need water,"[/blue] she said weakly. Closing her eyes, she sent out her threads of white Gift in order to seek out some water. [blue]"Goddess help us,"[/blue] she murmured. She suddenly jumped back to her feet. [blue]"Oh! Water,"[/blue] she said, looking at the barrels she was leaning against. She waved her hands and gestured to the barrels frantically. [blue]"There's water in these barrels!"[/blue]
She slipped out a knife from under her cloak and stabbed it into the side of the barrel, so water could gush out into a container when it was pulled out. Meredith scanned the area frantically for some kind of container to move the water from the barrel into the fire.
