Sapphire stared at Jazz waiting for a reply, she was filled with confusion, maybe accusation. She saw Jazz's face, it was filled with hate. What had Fhire done?
"As a matter of fact," she said hoarsely, "I was defending myself. And now, I'm going to find a capable healer. Now get out of my way."
Sapphire stared at Jazz, "Excuse me? I am a capable healer, as a matter of fact. You stabbed him Jazz, stabbed him,, why do I feel I am to blame?" she couldn't understand it. Sapphire ran over Jazz's cold words, what had Fhire done? "Jasmine, what did I do to deserve that? I am a capable healer. I did, am doing, everything I could. What did I do exactly?"
She looked over at Claw and then back at Jazz and got a sick feeling in her stomach. Why did she feel that she had done something terrible, "Oh never mind," she looked at Jazz with tears in her eyes, "What if he really is dead Jazz?"

Jazz stopped. She'd only walked a couple of steps. She didn't look back at Sapphire. "What are you pestering me for? I'm not an idiot. Neither are you. You know perfectly well what you've done. Oh, I don't blame you. I blame myself. But not-"she jerked a hand in the direction of the market, "-for that. Oh, it looks like I stabbed him. You try to hold off an insane man that's stronger and heavier than you and intent to killing you. Now leave me alone!." Her voice strained, and she struggled to get the last words out. She could feel the tears clogging her throat, and she carried on up the street with renewed vigour.
"What if he really is dead Jazz?"
She turned around slowly. "What if, indeed. I can feel his life force, Sapphire, and it is fading. If you really are a capable healing, why don't you stop accusing me, of all people, and go back there!" And without a further word she ran up the street, leaving Sapphire in the alley. She had to get to her sister, or Rose. They had to help Claw, and then... her. She wasn't dealing. She couldn't. She needed her real friends now more than ever.
And Sapphire's words echoed in her head: What if he really is dead Jazz?

Sapphirer looked at Jazz and tears trickling down her face, "What did I do? What? I didn't do anything, not to you, not to him. I am sorry for accusing you," Jazz's comments stung, they felt like glass, cutting deep. They ripped through her. What had she done? She looked at Jazz's cold face, trying to think of what had happened. She tugged on her braids, "Jazz?"
"What if, indeed. I can feel his life force, Sapphire, and it is fading. If you really are a capable healing, why don't you stop accusing me, of all people, and go back there!"
She looked back at Claw and thought about Jazz's words, he was alive? She ran to him and felt his pulse once more. It was worth a shot. She started to breathe, calming herself down. Slowly, with tears still trickling down her cheeks, she started to sing. She kept thinking of Jazz's cold, hard face, her cruel words. She didn't understand. One minute things were peachy and now this. What had happened?

"What did I do? What? I didn't do anything, not to you, not to him. I am sorry for accusing you." "Jazz?"
Jazz didn't see Sapphire's tears, struggling to keep away some of her own. She still didn't turn around, her back still too Sapphire. Oh, how things were changing, and yet refused to change when you willed them to. She still loved Claw, and she still loved Fhire, with all her heart. And she wished she didn't. She'd just had her fiance and her best friend betray, attack and accuse her in one day, when they were all in a peace delegation. What had she done to annoy the Gods?
She was angry, and she was heartbroken, and that godsdamned woman was still trying to convince Jazz of her innocence, not that Sapphore was innocent. Argh! "I'm sure you are. But, please, stop trying to act ignorant." She heard Sapphire run back to Claw's body, then shook her head to clear her head. Then, putting all rage into her body, she sprinted back up to the palace. When Sapphire turned back to her, she was long gone.

"I'm sure you are. But, please, stop trying to act ignorant."
Sapphire heard these words as she ran to Claw. They played in her mind as she sang desperately. Ignorant of what? She turned to look at Jazz, but she was gone. She turned back to Claw. Gods, he always got into trouble, didn't he? She placed her hand on his shoulder and sang with what was left of her decreasing strength. She let her magic search his body, trying to fix his wound, and stop him bleeding. She felt her magic flow through her and connect to him. She could feel his power, but it was faint.
She tucked some loose strands of her hair behind her ears, and tried to concentrate on Claw. Jazz's words, and her cold face kept appearing in her mind. She pushed those thoughts away and slowly started to heal Claw.

As the magic pumped into Claw, he felt his body repairing and decided that it was time to restart his heart. With a great concious effort his heart began to beat again, and he risked opening his eyes. The first thing he saw was Fhire, who seemed incredibly sad. Then he realised what must be the source of her being so upset. It was Jazz again. Inwardly he felt the anger inside him snarl at the mention of her name, even silently. She had upset Fhire now as well. And what had Fhire done? He struggled to remember the past few minutes, and all he could find was a blurred conversation between Fhire and Jazz.
And, come to think of it, Jazz was nowhere to be seen. What had she said? What had she done now? A sudden burst of anger animated his limbs and despite the grievous (now healing) wounds, he sat up, ignoring the searing pain acrosss his chest. It wasn't particularly fast movement, but it was enough. He scanned the area very quickly before dropping to the floor again.
"Fhire... thanks."
For once, Claw was at a loss for words. He never been that great at comforting, only at making people smile. But he doubted that Fhire would smile now.

Fhire felt Claw slowly come back to life. Relief seared through her. "Thank all those great gods up there. You're alive!" She looked down at him and allowed her mind to drift back to Jazz. Why had they been fighting anyway? Waht had CLaw done? What had Fhire, herself done? She shook her head sadly and thought of Jazz's harsh words. Why had they been directed at Fhire?
"Fhire... thanks."
She shoved Claw back to the ground, "We have been throught this countless times, you injure yourself, I heal you, you try to sit up, I make you lie down. So can you just stay put, becuase I have zero amounts of energy left and am not up to healing you again, So stay still." she glared at him, "You always do this. And it's a pleasure, I wasn't going to sit back and let my friend die of a sword wound......" she looked hard at him, "Speaking of which?" she said it more as a question than a statement. She wanted to know what had caused all of, well, this.
She looked at him quizzically. She really wanted to stay awake long enough to hear the story. But she wasn't so sure she would be able to. She could feel what was left of her weak energy slipping away. Where were those capable healers that Jazz had been talking about? Capable healers, that comment had stung, she was capable, wasn't she, "What happened Claw?" she asked softly, her throat raw from singing.
((Yay!!!!! You replied. Conga!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sorry about the crappy posting, I am zonked))

The question brought back the past events to him, and a tear involuntarily rolled down his cheek. Jazz had nearly killed him. Why? It wasn't over the pickpocket, he knew that. It was something else. Something was upsetting her to massive extents, but he had no idea of what. When he first tried to speak his voice cracked, and he tried again.
"She was acting weirdly. And then someone tried to pickpocket me, and I kicked him away, literally. She started acting all high and mighty, and my temper flared. I got angry and yelled at her, and then just red fuzz. Something is wrong here. This entire country disagrees with me."
Claw shuddered bodily, and replayed the events again. Empty voices in his mind echoed there conversation, each sounded empty, just replaying the events. So cold... so dark. He shook his head, and pulled off his left glove. THe black lattice of lines had grown, and were forming a shape. That was strange. And he hurriedly pulled the glove back on, before looking at Fhire again.
"Fhire, whats happening? It feels like the world's falling apart."

Sapphire bit her lip, "It's not the country, or maybe even Jazz. I dunno, she would never be angry, nay livid, without a reason. I can't explain your red fuzz, but I know that there is something wrong here, I can feel it. It's horrible, like there is this dark cloud hanging over us, it's freakish." She shivered and blinked, her strength waning. She shook her head, Jazz was rational, never fusia, Sapphire was the rash one, she rushed into decisions without thinking them through. But knowing that, it seemed hard to fathom what was going on. There was something very wrong here.
"Fhire, whats happening? It feels like the world's falling apart."
She glanced down at him and shook her head, "I don't know, I really don't know." She let her mind go over what had happened, so strange, frighteningly strange, unfathomable. She looked back down at him, "Something bad, very, very bad. Cold and dark. The world might not be falling apart, but some of the people and things inside may be."
She looked at his, now healed body, and tugged on her curls, she needed a change of subject, this one sent shivers down her spine, "What I do know is that we should get outta here. This may sound insensitive, since you have just been stabbed, but I am about to collapse. Can you stand?" she frowned, maybe she would have to help him. Not possible, she need help herself. She stood up and immediatly her knees gave way. "Well?" she asked him, a little disgrunteled. She looked in the direction that Jazz ran towards, and felt her blood run cold. Something was up. Something very bad.

He smiled weakly as Saphhires knees crumpled.
"Probably better than you at the moment. You burnt all your energy healing me, I'm thinking."
He stood up, slightly shakily, but kept to his feet. Reaching down, he helped Fhire stand up carefully, keeping her arm gripped in case her legs went again. Ignoring the crowd of people who were now dispersing to keep away from the 'strange possessed man', he looked for Jazz. she had completely gone. Good.
But now the conference with the Emperor. God, that was gonna end badly. There was something building up around it, and he didn't like it one bit. The more he thought about it, the more the incidents seemed to build up. The storm. Definitely not natural, due to the dampening spells. Jazz going psycho.
And the apex; the conference with the Emperor. He was going to go, that was sure. HE would ignore Jazz, compliment the Emperor, and go. Simple as that.
"Come on. We need to prepare for meeting the emperor."
