appearance.
_______ Jasmin's looks are purely reflective of her ethnic make-up; being of mixed Yamani and Tortallan descent, her appearance borrows from both aspects. Jazz is not conventionally beautiful, although by no means is she unattractive. She is no Queen Thayet, nor does she wish to be; Jazz is truly happy as she is.
_______ She stands slightly taller than most women of her age, her straight and confident posture more imposing than her actual height. She is very slim and extremely well-muscled, and she walks with natural balance and agility. It is clear that her body works to her advantage: while not being very strong, she is extremely lithe and fast.
_______ A tribute to her mixed heriatage, her skin is a golden-brown - much darker than native Tortallans', while clearly lighter than that of the Yamani. Her skin is unblemished, apart from the many scars that come with the life of a knight - ranging from stark, clear souvenirs to barely noticeable marks.
_______ A mass of thick, black curls, cut just below her jawline, frame her face. Her sharp facial features - high cheekbones, well-defined lips, slightly pointed ears - lend an aristocratic air to her appearance, in contrast to her personality. Her eyes she considers to be her best feature, a vivid, deep green, they once again point to her Tortallan ancestry. Also contributing to her aristocratic appearance, they are framed by thick lashes and proudly arched eyebrows.
attrie.
_______Her day-to-day wear is simple. For summer, brecches, shirts and tunics in light fabrics are serviceable enough, and the same for winter, except in heavier, warmer fabrics.
_______For battle, armour of light chain mail. Jazz can do fine without plate armour – besides, it’s too heavy for her too effectively fight in.
_______She actually quite enjoys the chances she gets to doll herself up in dresses etc., but has taken to wearing dress tunics and such for special events instead. This is for the sole reason that she and her friends inevitably find trouble at these occasions – and dresses are not the easiest clothes to fight in.

personality.
_______Jasminai of Carmine Tower – how does one describe her? Indeed, it is never easy to explain the personality of any one person, but I shall have to try. Where to start, where to start…
_______Jasmin mantains a calm, confident exterior for most of the time. She is a a friendly young woman, although she prefers the company of herslef and her close friends to socializing with strangers. Perhaps this is a natural precaution; Jazz has learned well enough that you never know who you can trust.
_______This being said, she is not a recluse either. She is quite open to meeting new people, and talks considerably easier after she has gotten the measure of who she’s talking to. In fact, Jamin has quite good people skills – being neither a recluse or a socialite.
_______She is quite a quiet person, although she is not shy – she simply knows just when to talk and when to shut up. It’s a skill. In social functions, more often than not she’ll parttake in a conversation between friends, or strike up a conversation with a new acquaintance. Otherwise, she’ll be the one standing slightly to the back, smiling and occaisonally contributing when she feels the need.
_______Jazz is a natural leader. She finds it easy to take control of a situation, and she can work well under pressure. Although quite independent, she knows the true value of teamwork – perhaps that’s why she is good at organizing people. She is highly intellegent and a skilled problem-solver. She knows where to put people so that they can use their talents and abilities to their full potential, and she’s quick at assesing plans and fixing the faults.
_______She can use her skills at their bests when she works with her close friends. Sapphire, Claw, Roseanna, her sisters – she knows them well, they understand each other and they can work well together.
_______Jasmin is a very determined young woman. She is hard working, so once she sets out after a task she’s sure to complete it.
_______She is also somewhat of a daredevil. She quite enjoys the thrill of danger, although she keeps this particular personality aspect under wraps. She does try to take the safest route possible – she is not an idiot. Sometimes she’ll indulge herself, but she tries not to endanger herself uneccesarily.
_______When she was younger she used to be very temperamental, but she has grown out of it – for the most part. Many things can still spark her temper, but she keeps it to herself and calms down before she does anything rash. She dislikes being teased in any way, but she has gotten used to it and is quick to laugh it off. She still has a high defense mechanism, however, and her sharp, sarcastic tongue is quick to act.
_______When Jazz is angry about a small thing, most likely she’ll yell, vent a bit, then laugh it off. But when she is truly furious, which does not happen often but woe onto those that spark it, she will never shout. Instead, she withdraws into herself. She manatins a cool appearance, and if she confronts the object of her rage, she’ll use quiet, harsh words.
_______Jasmin is a curious thing - quite literally. Her insatiable curiosity and thirst for knowledge is infamous. She is forever asking questions, going where she should not go, because she is searching for what can only be called the truth.. But, due to her nature, for every answer that she finds, there are many, many more questions. Unfortunately, she also has a knack for being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Perhaps her magnetism for trouble and her curiosity are at the heart of the problem.
_______Jasmin is also quite skilled with languages. She has a fair knowledge of Scanran, Kyprish, and Carthaki, and speaks Yamani and Common fluently. Being of mixed parentage, Jazz feels she has the best of both worlds.
beliefs.
She is righteous and a progressive – she treats people according to how they deserved to be treated , not according to class. She is obviously a very big believer in equality, which she believes to be one of the highest aspects to aim for.
fears.
She fears the normal things, such as her friends and family dying, falling ill and such. After these, her main fear is that of failure. She tends to be overly stressed because of it, and she could not deal with it is she failed at something big. She also fears situations that she wont be able to handle, or lsoing her self-control at in inopportune moment.

Reading, her friends, beauty in things around her, chocolate, flying.

Jazz once had a few magical charms that hang from her neck, including a magical connection – given to her by Rose – and a charm that helps her to shapeshift without losing her clothes. However, after a near-death experience, she decided that having things dangle from your neck is never a good idea. She has gotten a mage to combine them into a bracelet, which fits her perfectly – never falling off, or coming loose.

After being healed so many times, it isn’t quite as effective. She often over-reaches her limit physically and in terms of magic. first steps.
Jasminai was born in the Yamani Islands on 27 April. Her mother, Anite noh Karegan, was a Yamani diplomat who had temporarily lived in Tortall – and had fallen in love with a Tortallan delegate, Daniel of Carmine Tower. Jazz is thus both Yamani and Tortallan nobility, and can travel freely between the two countries as she has duel citizenship. Her family travelled frequently between the two countries, so she learned both Yamani and Common fairly quickly. They did, however, spend more time in the Islands as Kitana was born when Jamsin was three, and Katya when Jasmin was six. The next four years they spent equally in both countries, and Jasmin became experienced at sea from a very young age.
She’d wanted to be a Distaff Knight since she was about eight. It was a very calculated decision for her to make – she was a good fighter, and she wanted to make a difference. She wanted to uphold her beliefs. She truly believed that knighthood was her ‘calling’, for want of a better word, and nohting has of yet changed her mind. She took up permanent residence as a page in the Tortallan palace at age ten, ready to begin the career of a knight.
training.
Jasmin quickly settled into the way of life at the palace. Get up at dawn, work all day, bed late at knight. It wasn’t complicated, but it wasn’t easy either. She worked steadfastly in all of her classes, academic and training. Being weaker with the heavier, bigger weapons (such as the lance) she trained very hard to keep up with her peers.
She made friends. Some she didn’t see again after training, but she made the majority of her best and closest friends during this period. One was Roseanna of Castlemaine, who was a squire as Jazz was a page, and who eventually took jazz as her squire when she was knighted. Roseanna discovered Jasmin’s wildmagic, and Rose taught her everything she needed to know about it.
Rose also had another squire, a boy in Jazz’s year that she’d never gotten along with. Claw and Jasmin had somewhat of a rivalry, always trying to better the other, and they weren’t very friendly with each other. During the four years of squirehood, however, she and Claw fast friends, and she experienced many strange things. Claw, it seemed, was half demon and his brother was determined to make her life a living hell. Caught up in war, unnatural magic and things many a grown warrior will never see, Jazz was part of some of the most important events of their time.
When she was sixteen her best friend, Sapphire of Beliseare, came to Tortall after her own six-year training as a mage and diplomat in the Islands. They had been fast friends since early childhood, and the reunion was much anticipated.
distaff knight.
She was took her ordeal on the second night of Midwinter, and was knighted the night afterwards. It was, perhaps, one of the best and one of the worst experiences she’d ever had. She would never, ever, ever forget what happened inside the Chamber, and mayhap that’s a good thing. She was now a knight of the realm and, with her parents’ retirement to the Lsands, the Lady of Carmine Tower. Instead of going off on adventures, however, there were problems to attend to.
enemies.
Throughout her page and squire years, the threat of Baelinicus of Darksea was imminent. Jasmin and her friends fought against him repeatedly, although neither side had won thus far. The wake-up call came with the revival of the killing devices that had been used in the Scanran war, although these were adapted and changed. The Carmine Tower castle was subsequently destroyed in the first battle again these machines, and Jazz almost died when faced with a synthetic disease.
all’s fair in love and war.
At a knighting ceremony Baelinicus returned with his killing devices and destroyed the hall, killing more than half of the people in it, including Claw. Typically, her friend refused to go into death – and thus came back to the mortal realms. Soon after this, the two began courting, to the lack of surprise of their friends. The castle was quickly rebuilt, although the losses slapped some sense into the government. Mages were deployed to find a weakness in these killing machines.
Jazz, meanwhile, was up to other things. She befriended Meddreni and Tammia, two orphaned girls. They discovered they were the heirs to Fief Jakelonge in the Islands – but, of course, there were complications. A battle soon followed, themselves against Baelinicus, Cynthia, Avelia and the rest of the Rogue. Here, Claw was once again killed, and Rose captured. Jazz left early.
Upon her return to Tortall, and her attempted rescue of Rose, she was taken prisoner and put under control. She was ordered to hold the funeral of her former betrothed, but that didn’t turn out as planned. Saraneth, a good necromancer and friend, met up with her and realized that something was wrong. She raised Claw, who in turn, freed Jasmin and they rode out to war.
The war at Masbolle was terrible. Both Jazz and Claw being very weak and drained, it was a miracle that they both survived. Roseanna was freed from her magic imprisonment, and soon they wer ein the thick of the fighting. Jazz played a key part, managing to rid Cynthia of a magic ring that controlled others’ gifts. When she reached her friends, however, the demon inside of Claw had come out and was terrorizing them. She decided not to fight, as she would only endanger herself and her friends. Instead, she mentally attacked the shield that had shut Claw inside. Unfortunately, the demon realized what she was doing. She was lifted into the air by magic and tossed around like a doll. She almost died from severe blood loss, broken bones, but was saved from the brink of death by the combined efforts of her friends.
After the climax of the battle, during most of which she had been unconscious, she was taken back to Carmine Tower by her friends. They tended to her, and she awoke four days later. She recouperated for about a month, takingh exceptionally long because of her resistance to magical healing. She is, howeverm, back on her feet and currently out on a peace delegation in the Yamani Islands.
