Good

Queen's Rider
[Appearance:]
- eyes: Anjette's eyes are a deep-sea blue, like fathoms of deep water. She has thick brows and bold lashes which are jet-black, matching her hair.
- hair: Her hair is ebony black, like her brows and lashes. She wears it long, but in a thick braid down her back which she occasionally coils around itself to become a bun.
- body: Anjette has a fairly average build- not too skinny, not too fat. She's tall, but not too much taller than most of her friends. Her legs are long, making her strides long, and her legs are much more powerful than they seem. Anjette can knock your feet out from under you before you realize she's even against you.
- face: Anjette has olive-colored skin, but not creamy like that of the Yamanis. Her ancestors were probably Marenite, most people think, and they are correct. Her features are mostly sharp, but for the full but delicately shaped lips.
[Attire:]
Usually Anjette can be seen wearing simplistic shirts and breeches, for her work as a Rider. When she wants to dress up, Anjette chooses to wear the simpler, not as frilly dresses of the girls of the Lower City. She's not at all fashionable, and doesn't want to be. Her philosophy is, If I were meant to be a fashion statement, I woulda been born t'the nobles and sent t'Court.
[Personality:]
Anjette has a simple way of looking at things. She doesn't like for things to get too complicated. What beauty she might have or sees in other people is as simple as she is. Anjette is also an optimist, and likes to see the good side of everything. While Anjette is usually a nice person, she doens't necessarily lack the toughness it takes to be in the Riders.
However, do not mistake optimism for idealism. Anjette is very naturally aware of the world around her, and even if she doesn't like it, she still accepts it. In her mind, if she can't accept it, she can't fight it.
Anjette is not usually known for her sense of humor, until you get to know her well. Then it'll just pop up when you least expect it, and it usually presents itself through battle humor.
Other than that, thee is not much to say of Anjette's personality. She's not a tavern tough or rogue, and she's not a delicate lady either. Anjette's just....Well, if you ask her: "Just 'cause I'm not one or th'other don't mean I ain't myself."
[Beliefs – personal and political:]
Politically, Anjette trusts her Majesty Queen Shinkokami better that King Roald, but for a reason she can't explain. No matter what, though, she trusts her rulers with the well-being of Tortall. Yay. Religiously, Anjette worships Kalanine, the Earth goddess of Maren, known for her sweet temper (usually) and overall attractiveness.
[Fears:]
Anjette's biggest fear is being overwhelmed by anything. Quicksand is the easiest example. Anjette likes to be in control of what's going on, or at least fight for control. Something huge and overwhelming.....that's not her style, and it scares her.
[Likes:]
Anjette is very fond of reading, and likes to curl up in front of a warm fire with a good book. She also enjoys archery, horseback riding, and some hand-to-hand combat, which is part of why she wanted and succeeded to become a Rider.
[Dislikes]
She hates snobby people, and thinks that they should work more on the skills that don't suit them so well, rather than just flaunting the ones they CAN do over and over again. She also doesn't like some Tortallan foods....Anjette prefers Marenite food. However, the food at the Rider mess is just fine, most of the time. Other than that, it just depends on the situation. Who knows what will set off her mild temper?
[Quirks:]
There's not too much that's really quirky about Anjette. She isn't really a weird type of person. I'd say the quirkiest thing about her is her sense of humor. It appears quickly, and you never know when she's going to turn something into a joke.
[Weapons:]
Anjette's favorite weapon is the bow and arrows. She loves archery, even if she doesn't have a flare for it or anything. It doesn't mean she's BAD at it, but she doesn't have any special talent for it. Even so, Anjette loves to shoot. Her favorite bow is the Tortallan recurved bow. Anjette can also use knives fairly well, and can guide a trained horse into battle. She knows hand-to-hand combat, a little, and can give you a beating with a spear.
[Inventory:]
Mostly Anjette just own the average stock for a Rider. The one thing that is her prized posession is a well-woven belt made of leather strips braided and woven together. It belonged to Anjette's older sister Rheama, until she was taken as a slave by pirates in an attack on Port Caynn. To this day, Anjette keeps the belt as a reminder of her sister, and how someday, Anjette will go and find Rheama, and free her.
[Strengths:]
Anjette's strength lies in her temperate personality. She doesn't fire up easily, but has the ability to fight as if enraged on a regular basis. She doesn't use anger as a spur, like so many do, because she fears that it will break from her control and drive her to do something horrible. She's also a sharp mind, and likes to solve riddles for fun.
[Weaknesses:]
Anjette's personality has many crevices. If an enemy were to find those crevices, they could split her like a gemcutter does his stones. Her mental shields are where she spends most of her willpower, but if they fail, she could very well do the same. Also, her kind nature has been taken advantage of before, and was one of her worst experiences. Anjette is saddened by the idea that the traits she uses for good can be twisted and used for harm.
[Magic:]
Anjette has no magic, none at all.
[Goal:]
Right now, Anjette's main goal is to find and free her sister Rheama. However, it's been proving difficult, because Anjette must stay in Corus or with her Rider Group.
[Family:]
Mother: Rhiane Myale Ruins, priestess of Shakith
Father: Draun Ruins, one of the Provost's Guard
Sister: Rheama Ruins, taken as a slave by pirates in an attack on Port Caynn, three years older than Anjette
Brother: Teran Ruins, age five. No profession of yet to speak.
[Lover:]
None currently. Anjette has had lovers in the past, two. One took advantage of her and then left her, but Anjette has made her peace with that. The other she believes truly loved her, but was sent away to the Tusaine border with his division of the Kings Own. He hasn't returned yet, and it's been two years. Hopefully the Knight Commander will bring Sixth Company home soon.
[Familiar/Pet:]
Anjette has a little puppy, a cocker spaniel named Prince. He's a sweetheart, for all he seems to wish he were big and tough. She also owns a pony, like all of the Riders. Her pony is a gray stallion of ponies, with black mane and tail. His name is Coalfoot, since his hooves are black like his mane and tail.
[History:]
Anjette was born in Port Caynn to Rhiane and Draun Ruins. She had one sister already, Rheama. Until she turned seven, Anjette was famous for running around the Lower City with some of her poorer friends, even though she didn't live there. Her friends had parents who worked with the Rogue, (uh oh) and Anjette's parents didn't like that. So at age seven, they told her to pursue a real career. Since she wanted to be a Rider, and couldn't do that until she was fifteen, Anjette enlisted as a city messenger. That way, she figuyred, she could work on her riding skills, which were necessary to be a Rider. It would help if she didn't have THOSE to learn in training. So for four years, Anjette worked carrying messages through Port Caynn. When she was twelve, she moved to Corus to work carrying messages to, from, and inside the royal palace. However, when she was thirteen, she was home on the weekend when raiders attacked. Anjette was commanded to take her new little brother to safety at the strongly built jail. Only when the raiders had gone did Anjette and Teran (her brother) resurface, to find their mother sitting on her knees in front of their damaged house, weeping into her apron. Their father stood behind his wife, alternating between trying to comfort her and pounding the wall in rage. The raiders had included slavers, who had taken Anjette's sister Rheama. After that, Anjette stayed home to help rebuild what was destoryed of her house. At fourteen, she returned to the palace. She worked as a messenger for one more year, then started training for the Riders at fifteen. Originally she was known as that 'dark, quiet one', but then she got more accustomed to the Rider lifestyle. Now she's finished her training, and has many friends. That's pretty much where history leaves off, and the present begins.
