Your Character
[Full Name: Sir Alric of Greenhall]
[Age: 31]
[Gender: male]
[Date of Birth: February 25th]
[Place of Birth: Greenhall, Tortall]
[Residence: He lives wherever he's needed, but most of that time is split between Greenhall and The Royal Palace in Corus]
[Class: Knight]
[Title/rank: Viscount]
[Alignment: Lawful Good]
[Occupation: Knight]
[Appearance: He has sandy blond hair that he wears just short enough so that it stays out of his eyes when he's wearing a helmet, although when it's winter his hair tends to be more brown in color with the absence of sun to lighten it. He has bright blue eyes, but they are slightly overshadowed by bushy eyebrows. Freckles splash across his oval face in an odd pattern. His large nose and high cheekbones fit in with the rest of his face, while, his lips are relatively thin. On the tip of his sturdy chin he keeps a short beard that despite his best efforts gets longer than he wishes when hes away from others or off fighting. Besides all of this, he is a tall man with a sturdy build, muscular from his continuous work as a knight of the realms. He has long arms and legs, giving him more range in swordplay and longer strides. His fingers are long as well, but they're a little on the stockier side, making it more difficult for him to do things with his hands that require a lot of precision. Although not the most agile, hes used to traveling long distances and can be more nimble at times than sometimes expected. His chest, shoulders, and back are spotted with various scars while only one scar is very noticeable on his face, one running down the right side of his face next to his ear.]
[Attire: This obviously changes, but generally speaking he wears comfortable, durable pants (mostly brown), a long-sleeved shirt with a tunic over that that's belted at the waist, leather gloves that end after his wrists and sturdy leather boots. When there's any possibility he'll be fighting, his armor just goes over this.]
[Personality: The main thing to know about Alric is he holds one thing above all else, and that is his loyalty to his kingdom. As a knight he prefers to spend his time off seeking his own adventures, but he usually ends up spending quite a lot of time at court even during times of peace to make sure that if something does come up that would require his assistance, hell be there. Around others he is mostly polite, doing his best to make a good example of how a knight should act. Hes flirtatious without making any promises of more, manages to appear relatively calm even in the most ungracious of company, and with his friends will joke and chat but not be the one among them to stand out. Other than that, he is rather intelligent, mindful of his strength and skills, and is generally easy-going.
He can appear to be standoffish a lot of the time, masking most of his emotions with an air of neutrality. It's not that has any issues with opening up to people, he just doesn't think it's proper the vast majority of the time. Because of this, he can sometimes seem mysterious or aloof, when he wouldn't categorize himself under either term.
He does, however, think he's sometimes too polite for his own good. Rather than offend someone at court, he'll sometimes just go with whatever they'd like, even if he really doesn't want to. These situations have happened time and time again, but thus far he just hasn't learned. He's aware of the problem, however, and as soon as he figures out how to fix it he definitely will.]
[Beliefs – personal and political: Alric is very conservative, especially when it comes to gender roles in society, but he mostly keeps such views to himself. He tries to follow the knight's code to the letter.]
[Fears: heights, magic]
[Likes: jousting, nature]
[Dislikes war, awkward situations, things he doesn't understand]
[Quirks: He has a habit of complying to other people's wishes, often landing him in uncomfortable situations.]
[Weapons:
Sword: Highly skilled
Lance: Highly skilled
Bow: Skilled
Spear: Skilled
Anything he wouldn't have used in his training as a page: inept]
[Inventory:
He has a variety of weaponry and armor, although most of the time just keeps his sword with him. Also owns a plethora of maps and history scrolls.]
[Strengths: He's incredible at jousting, and very talented with a sword. Also comfortable fighting or riding his horse, and has a knack for history, deportment and politics.]
[Weaknesses: Anything having to do with magic or new weapons.]
[Magic: none]
[Goal: To serve his country and his family.]
[Family:
Mother: Lady Melida
Father: Lord Meryn, Right Honourable Lord of Greenhall
Brother: Piran (mage-in-training)
Sister: Lady Kayna (priestess-in-training)]
[Lover: none]
[Familiar/Pet: He has a grey Andalusian stallion named Shadowfoot]
[History: Alric was born the eldest son to the Earl Meryn of Greenhall and his wife, Lady Melida. He has two younger siblings, a brother who is five years younger and a sister who is nine years younger. Growing up in Greenhall, Alric was tutored in most of the things a future knight and lord of Greenhall would need to know before training as a page - mostly basics in reading, maths, politics, history, and various fief matters he'd need to know. Although his parents weren't the most wealthy nobles, they had enough to give Alric anything he needed to advance his education.
As a page Alric struggled some at first, mostly because he had never really trained in things like swordsmanship. He was alright at riding, and knew the basics of archery, but there was plenty of combat skills he hadn't even been introduced to yet. Determined to do his fief and kingdom proud, he worked extra hard to bring himself up to scratch. Not only was he able to do this, but he excelled at swordsmanship, using a lance, and even jousting. His laid-back and charismatic demeanor throughout his time as a page also kept him on good terms with most of the pages, and although he wasn't the most popular among them, he was often the one they'd go to if they needed help with something or needed a mediator.
When it was time for Alric to become a squire, he was picked up by Sir Vance, who at the time was not yet teaching riding and jousting at the palace. The two did a lot of traveling in those four years, constantly going to neighboring countries for tournaments that Sir Vance would quite often win. During the downtime, Sir Vance paid special attention to improve Alric's own jousting skills, along with his horsemanship. Throughout all four years Alric encountered many adventures, and to this day will say he learned more in those four years than he did at any other part of his life.
Upon returning to Corus after his eighteenth birthday, Alric took his Ordeal of Knighthood and got through it without any complications. His parents gave him the warhorse he still uses, a gray Andalusian stallion named Shadowfoot. After that, he took off to spend some time away from the palace, trying to find wrongs to right in the name of King Gregory all over the land. Although he spent most of his time away from Corus, he would return as quickly as possible if there was even a whisper that he might be needed there.]
