Alric had just finished unsaddling his stallion, and was busy brushing the horse down before allowing himself to retire to his quarters. He'd been gone from Corus for a few years now, and was having mixed feelings about what he had to expect ahead of him. On the one hand, it'd be good to catch up with everyone that needed catching up with, or even just to relax for a short while, but then again he had a habit of getting mixed in with whatever drama was occurring at the palace during his visits. Perhaps he'd manage to avoid that this time around, but he wasn't altogether expecting any sort of peace and quiet.
His things, which consisted of a fairly small bag, some chain maille, his sword, and a few other weapons were all kept leaning against the wall right outside his horse's stall.

Emlyn dismounted once she got to the edge of the forest, leading her mare the rest of the way to the stables. Her brown hair hung in front of her hazel eyes, drenched with sweat. Irritated, she pushed it out of her face with her free hand, and tucked the loose strands behind an ear. She entered the stables wordlessly. Emlyn of Brightleigh was known to most of the court, if only by reputation, as one of the best swordsmen in the realm. Unfortunately - or fortunately? - she was quite the recluse. She was often seen around the palace, but she never socialized. Just as she'd ridden in, another man entered, but she spared him no more than a calculating glance. Her features, as expressionless as always, didn't give away any feelings she may have about the stranger.
She unclipped her sword and scabbard and hung it in one of the hooks on the wall. It was only temporary, in any case. She removed the horse's tack, and began to brush down her long-time steed. Beforehand, she removed her tunic, which was simple but expensive and well made, and unbuttoned the two top buttons of her shirt. She was exhausted from riding all day, but she felt as good as she ever would. She worked in silence, quickly and efficiently, and carried out her tasks with methodical speed. She finished quickly, and slung her tunic over her arm, and hung the sword on her belt.
She exited the stall with her usual soundless footsteps, her mind elsewhere. What she really needed was a bath. And then maybe some sparring, although the standard of knighthood was going down, by the laughably bad fencing she'd seen recently. Emlyn sighed, running an agitated hand through her hair. And then - Em might have been a damn good knight, but she was still as unfocused as ever. She tripped over a bundle of things someone had foolishly left outside his stall, and collapsed to the floor in a head. She groaned, and pushed herself up into a sitting position. She'd had worse falls.

As soon as Emlyn made the commotion outside Alric's horse's stall, the stallion kicked out in fright and made as if to rear. Luckily, Alric was experienced at dealing with the high-strung warhorse and quickly got his hands on the lead rope, firmly keeping the stallion's head (and with that, his body) down. In a few seconds and a considerable amount of exerted strength on Alric's part, the horse was at least calm enough to not pose a threat to anyone. That done, he vaulted himself over the stall door to see for himself what had gone on. He wasn't too surprised to see that someone had tripped - over his things, no less. Stepping forward, he held out a hand to help the woman up.
"I'm sorry, m'lady," Alric said with sincerity. Not being able to help himself, he quickly looked over what she'd tripped over to try and evaluate any damage, but for the most part his concerns were for the woman.
