[Living Room]
Coffee is a most wondeful thing. It can brighten the darkest days, awaken the sleepiest morning, and lengthen the shortest nights. It can dry the wettest tears, cheer the illest person, and energize the tiredest knight. Oh yes, the call of coffee is most powerful.
Which is why Jasminai of Carmine Tower sat on a setee, in the living room, in her respective fief, a cup of coffee cradled in her hands. It was early morning, though far past dawn - much later than she usually woke. It was apparent that she was exhausted by the bags under her eyes, but other than that, she seemed absolutely fine.
She didn't feel too bad. She was still pretty weak, and sore, but it wasn't too painful. Nothing worse than usual, which was quite an achievment, however odd that might sound, for 'worse than usual' was, in fact, such a regular occurence, that it was, in fact, almost usual. Looking back on her thoughts, she wondered if any of that had, in fact, made sense.
She often thought such things. Her mind was such a random and confusing place to be, sometimes. It was a wonder that she seemed completely rational and sane in the outside world. The outside world being, of course, everywhere that was not the mind of she.
She sipped from the cup, relaxing and smiling thoughtfully. It was a sunny day, a good, day and she had coffee. Oh, it was a wondeful morning.

Sapphire knocked on the door frame and walked in. she smiled at her friend. "Better?" She felt terrible. She wasn't with Jazz when she needed her most. While the war was going on she was healing and helping, but not fighting. The images of those who came in, all bloody and wounded, seeking the song mage's healing magic, still haunted her dreams. If it was that bad for her, she couldn't imagine what it was like for her friend.
The smell of coffee awakened her from her thoughts. "Coffee is the worlds best policy." she said, trying to avoid what seemed like obvious questions and answers from both of them.

"Better?"
She grinned up at her friends and scooted over so she could sit down, setting the cup on the nearby table. "Better than usual, thanks to you," she said, good naturedly. "Those herbs you found are wonderful for sleep. What was in them?" At her inquiry, she picked up her cup again to drink more coffee. More coffee...
"Coffee is the worlds best policy."
Sapphire might be a wondreful delegate, with a perfect Yamani mannar, but Jazz was still her best friend. Something in her voice immediately told Jasmin that her friend was having a off-day. Off-days, for all of them, were increasing in number and intensity, though time was slowly healing the uneasiness and sadness that was any war's aftermath.
"Indeed. The coffee's still hot," she said, gesturing to the coffee pot, "You want some?"
However, even her friend's apprehensive mood couldn't put a damper on her day. She knew that Sapphire felt guilty about not fighting, but she honestly coudn't see the reasoning - and had said so many times before. Sapphires efforts, along with everyone elses, had saved her from death, and for that she was eternally grateful. However, having Sapphire stay at Carmine these past weeks had made her realize that Sapphire didn't. Realize, she meant.
She'd said so, many a time. It was one of those things that she'd have to let go of. "Sleep okay?" she asked, raising an eyebrow, and shooting Sapphire a look that clearly said: Relax. Have coffee. It's over. Or something to that effect.

"Those herbs you found are wonderful for sleep. What was in them?"
Sapphire shrugged and sat down, "oh you know, a little of this, a little of that." She knew her friend didn't like the fact that she felt guilty, but she did. Her friends had needed her and she hadb't been there.
"Indeed. The coffee's still hot,You want some?"
"Oh that would be great" She said a little distracted, still thinking of other things
"Sleep okay?"
Jazz was being so nice, she really was an amazing friend, Sapphire shrugged, "I slept fine, you are the one who should be anwering that question, my friend."

"Oh that would be great"
She pushed her curls back from her face, grinning. "I thought so," she said, "See? I brought an extra cup and everything." Still smiling, she carefully poured the steaming coffee into said extra cup, before passing it to her friend, no questions asked. You can't be lifelong friends with a person and not know how they take their coffee.
"I slept fine, you are the one who should be anwering that question, my friend."
"Better than usual," she said firmly, "As I said, those herbs are wonderous."

"Ohh thanks." Sapphire said, taking the steaming mug
"Hey the herbs were the least I could do," She smiled and started to twist her hair into a braid. Her curls hung all around her face and she was sick of them falling in her eyes. Her hair was like an automatic escape. She fiddled with it whenever something was wrong, or boring, or irratating. It was just her way. She sipped the steaming mug, it was just the way she liked it.

"Hey the herbs were the least I could do."
"Don't worry about it," she said gently, and with concern as she friend starting to play with her hair, "I'd have died if it weren't for you." She was completely serious, her eyes locked on her friend's. In that moment, she managed to coney exactly what she meant.
Breaking the connection, she relaxed into the chair and took a long draught of the coffee, draining the cup. "It's a wonderful day. Want to go for a walk?"

Sapphire smiled, "That's not true, but I did help!"
She looked out the window, "Walk? Thats sounds lovely." She tied here braid and set it down on her shoulder. "Who knows, maybe it will be a normal walk, with no drama or anything!"

"Who knows, maybe it will be a normal walk, with no drama or anything!"
She laughed outright at that. "That'll be hard to find, here," she said, still smirking, "Normal? True, the war is over, but drama is never hard to find. But, maybe, just maybe, if we try very har, we'll see if we can have a normal walk."
She sighed wistfully, standing up and tugging her shirt. "Done with the coffee?" she asked, eyeing the mug as she stretched her arms. "Is it good coffee?"

"Mmmm.......... very good." She grinned at her friend. Rubbing her neck, she stood and started walking towards the kitchen door.
"I'll just put these mugs in the kitchen and go change," she said, taking Jazz's mug, "meet you here in five minutes."

"Alright," she said with a sheepish smile, exiting through the other door. She took the stairs slowly and steadily, not wanting to ruin her day. Once up in her room, she quickly changed from her everyday shirt and breeches, into a pair of black breeches, with and indigo shirt. Stepping into soft walking boots, she hooked a dagger unto her belt and quickly tied her hair back. Smiling at herself in the mirror, she grabbed her cloack (just in case) and started for the living room.
She had the feeling that it was going to be a pretty good day. Maybe it'll be drama-less, like Fhire said, she though as she reflected on her way down the stairs. Grinning, she entered the living room and sat down to wait for her friend.

Sapphire smiled slightly as she climbed the stars. She entered her room and changed into her breeches and a feminine shirt. She grinned at herself in the mirror. Tucking away a curl she raced down the stairs.
She was feeling better and now she was not going to let anything dampeer her mood.

She grinned almost to the point of being annoyingly cheerful when Fhire re-entered the room. Besides knowing how they take their coffee, another thing one always knows about their best friends, is what made them tick. And Jazz was an expert on Fhire's umm.... tickators? Ticktriggers? On the things that made Fhire tick. Happiness without a reason was one of them. So she smiled. Excruciatingly so.
"Sapphire! Finally, you took your time! Let's go! Hop-to! Click clack! Let's move!" she cried in a passable imitation of one of Fhire's colleuges. Jasmin and Sapphire had hours of fun just making fun of him (in private, of course). She clapped her hands twice, expectantly. "It's a sunny day! Let's not waste! Come along then!"
Again, excruciating smile. Cue Sapphire's reaction...

"Ahhhhh, stop it. That is SO annoying!!!!"
Jazz knew exactly what made her tick! This was very annoying but also useful. It made her laugh. She whacked her friend lightly on the head. "Let's go meanie."

Slinging her arm over Sapphire's shoulders, she let down the intensity of her grin, though she was smiling. "The ol' bug still giving you problems?" she asked as they walked out into the courtyard. She blinked several time in quick succesion, her eyes unaccustomed to the sudden sunlight. "Does he still have those positively enornous spectacles?"
And so they began to walk around the courtyard and gardens. They truly were beautiful. Jazz really made an effort when it came to these things, and the particular lanscape artist went from gardener to praised artist in under two weeks of the gardens' completion. Trees, and flowers, and shrubs, and benches, and hedges, and ponds... it was complex, but stunning. It was always pleasant to walk in the cool shade that the trees offered, soft footsteps on the paved path...
