Sapphire glared at her friend and then started to walk down the path with Jazz. She compared their steps. In comparason to Jazz's strides, Sapphires steps looked tiny. Where Jazz was trained in stances, Sapphire was trained to walk perfectly straight, with books on her head. Where Jazz was trained to attack enemies, Sapphire was trained to debate them. With Jazz there was no fusia and magenta. Just straight-forward black and white. Sapphire loved her friends straight-forwardness.
Sapphire giggled looking at their steps. They were so different. She looked around at the grounds and smiled. No more drama. Just a normal stroll. Just the way she liked it-sometimes. The air was crisp and fresh. She breathed it in and felt it cooling her cheeks. The brisk breeze whipped her curls around and made her eyes brighter. She loved the early mornings. They were so peaceful and quiet. "Hey Jazz, what time of day do you like the most?"

Jazz, on the other hand, paid no attention to their steps. She was hardly paying attention at all, just letting herself drift off on the stream of randomness that was her mind. Occasionally she'd think rational things such as "low branch, duck", "step over fallen branch", or "step around puddle", or irrational things like "pretty bird", "I wonder what's for supper", or "Sapphire has good taste", but mostly, she pondered.
To ponder is to think very hard about something, or rather, wonder very hard about something. In this case, she wondered (or pondered) about whens he'd be able to ride. This was, in her opinion, a huge thing. She had to ride. She just had to. You can't be a knight and not ride on a horse. Well, technically you could ride a pony, but that was msotly for the riders...
"Hey Jazz, what time of day do you like the most?"
Dragged out of her thoughts, she gave Sapphire a vauge "Hmm?" before actually realizing what was being said. Once she did, though, she smiled thoughtfully and said, "Morning. Dawn, just before the sunrises and there a feint light, and you can see the sun coming up over the horizon. I always stop to watch. And you? Why?"

She smiled at her friend, who was obviously wondering about other things, "No, I was just wondering. That is the perfect time of day!"
Even though they were different they were still so similar. Sapphire glanced at the surroundings and grinned. There were tall-as-can-be roses and Jasmine climbing towards the sky. She let herself get filled up with the peacefullness of the early morning. Her mind started to drift and she found herself thinking of the Yamani Islands. When was the last time she'd been there? Or debated for there? This war had turned things all higgledy-piggledy! She let her hair loose and ran her fingers through the veltet ribbon that had been holding it. She twirled it around and contemplated it. That was another difference betwwen herself and Jazz. Where she, Sapphire, loved letting her hair hang long and curly, dripping down her back, Jazz liked hers cut shorter, always tied neatly, straight-forwardly back.
