Rose walked outside to the large stables of Castlemaine. She stretched and inhaled the fresh air before walking inside. Heads popped out of stalls to see who the visitor was, and then whickers and whinnie's of joy followed when they saw that she was back.
Rose smiled and walked up to each horse and patted each one and gave them a sugar cube in turn. Names on the silver nameplates sparkled through the windows in the late afternoon sunshine.
One stall caught her eye in particular. It was a large boxstall, and the silver nameplate had amethysts set in it. A bucket of cyrstal clear water sat on the floor, and the sweet scent of the summer's hay filtered through the air. A swirl of silvery amethyst light brought Rose's attention up into the stall, instead of the ground. A large black Unicorn stood there, his obsidian horn gleaming in the sunshine, while the amethyst set at the base of his horn sparkled regally. She smiled.
Hello Shadow. she greeted her bonded companion.
Hello little one. I've missed you. he said.
I've missed you to. Are you up for a ride to Carmine? I'll be staying there for awhile until Jazz has recovered. she told him.
Of course I am. I've been waiting for this day. he said.
Rose grinned and opened the stall door. Shadow walked out and Rose mounted him bareback.
"Lets ride." she whispered into his ear. The stable doors magically burst open and Rose and Shadow burst out into the open air and gallop towards Carmine.
