Emlyn studied herself in the mirror. To say she looked different would not be enough. She looked like a completely different person. Gone were her grey blue eyes and brown hair. She was completely different. She was smaller, her frame not seeming to be built for fighting. She looked distinctly Yamani, her hair black and her eyes a startling blue. She frowned, cheking the magic was fixed firmly to her appearance. "Is this her? I didn't get enough time to study her features, you know," she said to the other person, peering out the glass-panelled doors. They led to a balcony that could be seen from the street.
She sighed, picking at her dress. She didn't feel comfortable in it at all. But... a girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do. She measured up her companion. He too looked nothing like he usually did, and it was a bit disconcerting. There was only one way to wreck their enemies, however, so it was worth it. The magic crackled under her skin, and a faint buzzing could be heard by Emlyn alone. "I can se her coming. Come on," she pushed open the doors and walked out into the balcony, not waiting for an answer. She surveyed the street for a moment, then turned back to Kale. "You sure about this?" she demanded, glancing back at the figure that walked up the street.

"Good image. She'll fall for it. And I'm sure."
Kale too looked different, taller, and his face with sharper lines. More muscles lined his skins, and his eyes were a sparkling amber. His hair was now long and black, and he wore a distinctive style of clothing, like that worn by Claw, the knight. A small sword was slung on his belt, identical to the one that Claw carried with him at all times. The magic felt strange on his skin, not necessarily uncomfortable, just... strange. But it was necessary for the deception to convince their target. He stepped out onto the balcony, leading Emyln with him. As he looked at her, he checked that the woman could see them, and smiled warmly at Emyln.
Leaning forwards, he kissed her gently, and immediately felt his pulse rate quicken. That was strange... and unexpected. He ignored it, and concetrated on acting normally. It was very easy. The feeling had only happened once before, and he had been in love then. A moment later he broke the kiss, before kissing her again. He knew that the person below could see them, and that they would be watching in horror.

"Good image. She'll fall for it. And I'm sure."
She smiled, turning back to him."Thanks," she whispered. "Your look is very convincing." She tilted her face up wards, and Kale leaned in and kissed her. The soft kiss was expected, but she hadn't imagined it'd be like this. She kissed him back, circling his neck with her arms. And she forgot.
Emlyn forgot that years ago, she'd never have done anything as decietful as this, she'd have scorned at the mere thought. She forgot that she was doing this to destroy those that stood in her way. Kale broke off, and she returned to the present. At the back of her mind, her thoughts were racing, emotions jostling each other. She stole a glance at the young woman that stood in the street. She was shaking her head, terrified, her eyes locked on the couple. Then she tore her eyes away and broke into a run. Perfect.
But her attention was diverted a moment later, as her lips met Kale's again. Suddenly those feeling that were cast aside, came back full force. And Emlyn didn't know how to deal.

Kale held the kiss a little longer than necessary to check that the woman had gone, feeling that strange tingling feeling running down his body. Pulling apart a moment, later, he looked at Emyln and smiled, a truly happy smile rather than the usual ironic grin or smirk. In his head strange unknown emotions were bubbling through his mind, pushing all sane thoughts from his head. You enjoyed that. said little voice in his head. He ignored it, and told himself about his job. Emotions were secondary. A moment later though and he had replaced the smile with a grin, and spoke carefully, leading her back inside.
"That went very well I do believe. Good work with the magic, very convincing."
Muttering a few counter-spells (the only magic he had) Kale removed the illusion and returned to his normal, if slightly shaken, self. Trying to retain control of his emotions, he took a knife and threw it into a target on the wall. It stuck dead centre, and when he moved to pull it out it took quite a wrench to pull it from the wood. His mind strayed back to thoughts, familiar faces and the only person he had ever loved... and pulled himself back to the present. That wasn't the only person he had ever loved any more. Not that they would find out.

Emlyn was glad he'd spoken first. The tension almost stretched her thin, from the moment they'd pulled apart. Her head was reeling, and she felt dizzy. She'd never felt this before. She could feel her head pounding, and the strange buzzing melting into the background of her thoughts. Old words kept coming back to her: You enjoyed that, didn't you? And the terror they'd once held started to resurface, for completely different reasons. She found she couldn't meet his eyes, so she picked at the blue gown she wore. Kale was smiling. She'd never seen him smile like that before. And it scared her.
"It did, she said once she had her breath back, "I do believe we've gotten to the young knight."
The closed the door behind them, and sank into a chair. The silence hung over the room, filling the deepest corners. She flinced inwardly as the sudden thud of a knife hitting wood, but she didn't let it show. Once she'd collected herself, she closed her eyes and lifted the magical mask. The air around glowed a faint green for a few seconds, before fading into nothing. Em glanced at her mirror, and smiled weakly. She was herself again. She looked like it, in any case.
"It's amazing," she said lightly, desperate for distraction. "Every person they've defeated tried to beat them by force. They never thought to make them self-destruct. As far as my research goes, none of them could have won alone. It's ridiculous, this dependance they have on each other. All of them."

Kale laughed lightly.
"Shes not that much younger than you are. And you're right. Veryone thinks that force will beat them. And yet watch the 'greatest' warriors in the realm falter because of emotional attachments. One of them has already been taken down in a few seconds by two people."
Despite his seemingly light exterior, Kales insides were churning as though they were being rammed into a blender. Trying to think of a different subject, he ended up throwing more knives into the target, one after the other. With the nerves however, his shots all missed and got stuck in various pieces of furniture around the room (although definitely in front of him). Swearing under his breath he pulled the knives out of the cupboard, bookshelf and wall, taking down the target as well.
"We should probably get out of here. Where to?"
He grinned again, more naturally this time and managed to regain some of his composure, before driving a knife straight into the wall with a hard throw.

She nodded in agreement, her fists clenched so hard that she feel her nails digging into her skin. She wasn't trembling, she wasn't stuttering. She seemed perfectly fine. But Emlyn had never been in love, and the was starting to panic. She was aware of the conversation, and she knew what it ment: caring to much was a weakness. Which is why this had to be kept under wraps. "Exactly. And another two will follow, because of their dependance on one another. And then what will the others do, three of their team gone?" It had been a clever plan. Risky, but clever.
"Watch it!" she exclaimed, as one by one his knives hit various pieces of furinture. "You'll blunt those kives if you aren't careful." You should focus, she wanted to add. But she didn't because she mind screamed back at her: hypocrite. You couldn't shoot an arrow in your state. She leaned back in her hair. I need to get some air.
"We should probably get out of here. Where to?"
She relaxed, slightly. Smiling, more because he'd saved her from having to say exactly that, she stood up and straightened her clothes. "I was just about to say that," she said, inwardly wincing as the knife once again thudded into the wall. "But I don't know the Islands that well. Are there any good places to eat? I'm a bit peckish, to tell you the truth."

"You're right, they may get blunted. And I know the Islands like the back of my hand, but only know of one restaurant beside that. The Golden Wok. It is run by the marks sister though."
Emotions, Kale mused, clouded judgement to high levels. In a normal situation he would never have suggested such a thing, but it stuck into his head, and burrowed in until it seemed to be the only sensible course of action. Nodding as if to confirm to himself it was a clever thing to do, he pulled his clothes around him, and jumped onto the windowledge.
"I'm gonna scout ahead, to make sure we won't get caught."
He vaulted onto the building next door, and surveyed the darkening city. The streets had traffic yes, but it was thinning and they would easily slip unnoticed across the rooftops, provided they didn't make any stupidly obvious sounds or noises. Checking their location by the very faint stars (his main help, even in the city) and the time of day by the faling sun and rising moon, Kale returned to the window, jumping the alley between bulding s and landing inside the window.
"Its all clear. The Golden Wok is our next destination."

"How deliciously ironic," she said, ignoring the sensible part of her mind. She was hungry, there was a restaurant. As he went outside to scout Emlyn stole a quick look in the mirror. Her mind didn't register that she'd hadn't given a d**n about her appearance before. Her hair was slightly mussed, but she looked fine apart from that. She tugged on the hem of her shirt, thinking.
"Its all clear. The Golden Wok is our next destination."
She shook her head, turning away from the mirror. She was under control now, though not too far from panicking. She had no idea what was happening. "Gods, Kale. You're too dramatic," she teased. "No one even knows us here." She grabbed her sword and a few knives, then looked up. She still didn't meet his eyes. "Which direction?" she asked.

"Me, dramatic? Never!"
He grinned, and checked the area around himf or directions. Despite his apparent calm, Kale was battling with sanity. The normal image of the city had been replaced by Em's face, and he simply had instinct left, not the most useful of tools when needing directions. He could vaguely remember something about west, and so that was where he pointed.
"In that general direction. Come on."
He lept away again, keeping ahead to avoid showing his face to her. Being shy was not something Kale was used to, nor being nervous. Narrolwy avoiding losing his footing, he wrenched his mind onto his surroundings, and reaslied that they had to leap the road. Sighing, he took several steps backwards before running forwards and leaping across the street. He landed on the other side quietly, an acheivement in itself.
Now he had his emotions under control again Kale managed to remember the route to the Golden Wok, and began to lead Emyln to the street in which it was located.

She grinned back at him, shaking her head as she followed him out onto the rooftop. It was early evening, and the crisp air brought colour to her cheeks. The city sprawled out below her, and she smiled absent-mindedly at the beauty of it all. She could just sit here, all day. She used to have that sense long ago, when she'd been a naive romantic. But that had been all stupidity. This was simply beauty. "I hate being in a foreign city. makes me feel so off-guard," she commented, trying to stop emotions from dazing her. She followed him, glad to have something to concntrate. She walked along easily, balancing on the balls of her feet
"Easy."
She shook her head as Kale leaped across the road separating the houses , landing silently. Nothing special to his profession. Oh, but this brought back some memories... She cleared the street easily, landing equally as quietly and very neatly. She was very agile, which more than made up for her lack of brute strength. She opened her mouth to say anything, anything at all. Just to break the silence. But Kale was already off again, so she followed him, trying to keep herself in check.
