Nalini entered the noisy tavern, looking around for familiar faces. She hugged her bundle closer, and went to speak with the man behind the bar. The greeted her warmly, as did the serving girls. They awed and cooed over what was in her arms, but mercifully didn't ask any questions. She made her request, and received a nod and a key.
She made her way to the stairs, keeping care not to jostle the bundle in her arms, and keep it covered. The tavern may not be the best place, but it was all she could think of. And right now, she needed what ever she could get.

Claw was sitting at a table. It was a small round table, and he was having one of his drinking runs. It had no effect on his metabolism at all due to his daemonic self, and he as currently on his third pint of whisky. As he looked around the tavern, his eyes fell upon a person hose face he had known for years. And he had loved her once, many years ago now. And now she was just a friend, one who he had sorely missed.
He stood abruptly, eyes tracking her and he sent a web of magic over her to follow her movement. Casting a spell over himself (one of invisibility) he slipped past the bartender and other bodies in the room, and folloin ght eperson onto the stairs. He flew silently over her, magic scanning the key number she had in her hand and waiting in the room next door.

Nalini entered her room, letting out a sigh and pulling a hood from her hair. The room was modest, a table, a fire place, a bed. She unwrapped the bundle, singing sofly under her breath.

Hearing the door of the next door room shut, Claw moved in front of the door, doing a quick scan for magic or other implements which could mean that what he had first taken to be a friend might be slightly more.. sinister. Finding none, he took and breath and let it settle. hat ould he reaction be this time.
He knocked on the door, and when it opened, he spoke.
"Hello Nalini."
(sorry if its godmoding, and for the lenghth og the post))

Nalini jerked back, eyes widdening. She stared at him, breath coming faster and faster until- she slammed the door.

Claw sighed, and took the course of action which seemed to be most appropriate for the current situation. Stepping forwards, he lifted the door out of the frame and stepped inside, returning it to its original position afterwards. Then he turned and looked at Nalini, eyes comforting and yet sad at the same time.
"Its me. Nothing else, just me. Searching for an old friend."

Nalini was backed into the corner, dark eyes wide and fearful. She licked her lips, making a small noise like a cry. No, no this wasn't real. Claw had died, had died in her arms! The dead didn't come back.

Claw sighed and reached out with his hand, placing it quietly on her shoulder. A way to prove it was him... a fact... a memory. And then the one he needed came to him. He spoke quieter than ever no, voice barely audible.
"You were on the streets, eating out of a slop bucket. I took you to the rogue. Remember?"
(reeeally sorry for length)

Nalini flushed a bit. She had been young, barely five. She hadn't eaten for days. She tried to shake the hand off, feeling tears burn at her eyes lashes.

Claw lifted his hand off her shoulder sadly, and a tear rolled down his cheek, hitting the floor with a plip and droplets of water skidding across. He turned silently and headed for the door.

Nalini took a breath, but a wail startled her. She blinked, and went over to the bed, lifting out a dark haired infant and craddling the child in her arms. She cooed, bouncing the baby gently and stroking the tiny face.

As the cry of the baby sounded, Claw froze. He stayed in the doorway, but his ears honed in on the sound. He turned slowly in the doorway, and walked back in, resting an arm on Nalinis shoulder.
"How long?"
Although his voice was calm, inside he was churning with emotions. A baby. The child of his best friend. And no sign of a father, or support... he shuddered inwardly, and made a vow to help Nalini. To do what it took. Whether she wanted it or not.

Nalini was still soothing the infant, her child, a daughter. She put the small girl up on her shoulder. "Near three months." She whispered. Almost a year she had carried the child, in her womb or belly.

Claw nodded mutely, eyes still fixed on the small child, who appeared to be calming down. Claw sent a quick thread of magic into the baby, to see if he knew the father. No trace of identity wafted through his head, and so he posed the question.
"Who's the father?"
Thoughts kept creeping through his head, each leaving no answer and a simple void of nothing.

Nalini's face darkened visabley. The question made her feel like a very *friendly* person. She was no bar wench that dressed in tight dresses and batted her lashes at men! She had never allowed a man her body, she had been like a noble women. She had been waiting- but then to be rejected.
She licked her lips, "I don't know. He ran."
It hadn't been long after the diaster of the Yamani Isles, after Claw had died in her arms. With the the Rouge no longer there to protect her, she had been easy game to all sorts of predators.
