Namonai Okunote entered The Dancing Dove, almost clinging to her cloak in expectation. The young woman had heard about the pub being the home of the notorious Rogue. Her company of thieves would sit around the campfire and tell stories about it for hours. They would joke about being left out of the fun. Even when Namoi had still been running with them, she would be on the outside of their gatherings. Jokes were not for her, and anyone unlucky enough to catch her eyes would see the darkness in them.
What Namoi met upon her entering was a bit of a disappointment. There was only a handful of occupants and none of them appeared to be who she was looking for. She brushed her bangs aside. Her hair, which barely touched the tips of her ears, was getting to be too long again. Namonai thought about cutting it as she made her way to an empty table on the outside. She wasn't much interested in conversing with anyone besides the man she had come to meet. If only the bloody fool would appear already!
Namoi's impatience was hidden behind her Yamani mask as she seated herself. She would wait, but not for long.

Kira explored the city. She had travelled al lthis way with her mother, her dream was to be a rider. Her mother was a rider but quit to get married. When they split up, the Kimiri woman was back to join the riders again and her daughter Kira was with her.
Kira's small eyes scanned the ciity, it was so big! How did people live in one place all their lives, cramped up together? She had lived her life with the players and wa sused to travelling a lot. Thinking of her twin sister she fingered the pendant at her throat, her sister had an identical one, the twin pendants weren't any special, just a small bird on a think piece of leather. Sparrow and finch we called ourselves She thought of the acrobatic act they did together, would joining the riders be worth it? While her motehr went into an inn to get a room she ducked into the dancing dove for a drink, her grandfather was a rouge and had always wanted to visit here, at least once.

Namoi's eyes went to the small, brown haired young woman who had just entered the pub. If she hadn't been wearing her Yamani mask, her eyes would have narrowed. The other woman had a strentgh about her that Namoi often times associated with fellow fighters. Whether she was a rogue, a squire, or something else entirely was still undecided, but Namoi would have a fun time figuring it out.
Fun. When was the last time that Namoi had had any? She thought back to just a few months ago, when she had been traveling Tortall with a company of thieves. Business, and nothing more, she thought. There was certainly nothing fun about having to stoop to stealing for a living, and the occasional kills that had to be made were nothing but a headache on the girl's conscience. Though the young Yamani had to admit that the adrenaline rush of fighting came close. Damn close.
Sighing, Namoi shook her head. The little girl she used to be, the one that would waste a day making up insane histories for every stranger that passed, she was gone.
"Dead, more like." she spat under her breath. That girl had been weak, useless for anything other than being a slave. Namoi's eyes, which had changed to a dangerous icy black, watched the young woman subtly over a mug of ale. If only she knew....

Nadia walked into her home and the Rogue's headquaters, as well as being a general pub - The Dancing Dove. Her eyes twinkled slightly as she ran them over the pub's occupants. She looked down a bit, seeing none of the regulars she called friends. Walking forward to let the door swing shut behind her, she sat at a corner table, mulling thoughts over in her mind.
She was in here after saying goodnight to the plotters, and had hoped to converse with her friends. But no, they were all gone. It seemed Jasl had gone far in his plan to kill the reigning Rogue, Avelia. Nadia, of course, was against this plan. She was spying on the plotters and their every movement, but this became tiring after a while. Jasl was a plain and simple ba***rd who didn't follow anyone or their rules, or even cared about what they thought. He wasn't below threatening people and he didn't have any pride. Well, he would fall, if it was the last thing Nadia did. Him and his cronies. Well, at least the willing ones.
Her brown eyes turned cold as she contemplated them. Searching the room again with her eyes, she could spot at least a few she had never seen before. That one who had just come in for instance, with the fighter's stance. The K'miri. Nadia almost shrugged, but then flicked her brown curls out of her face.
That one though. The Yamani with the black hair cut just above her ears, with a icy coldness in her eyes. Nadia would bet anything that she was someone who lived on the outskirts of society, as a thief, as an assassin, a pickpocket, a spy, or one of a numerous other trades associated with the Rogue. She would be one worth watching.

Namonai didn't bother looking in the direction of the newest occupant. If she was spying on Namoi, it wouldn't end well. There wasn't much the Yamani could tell from the corner of her eyes, but she was sure that the other woman was trouble.
With a swift, predatory grace, Namoi stood and made her way over to the other side of the room, stopping just in front of the newcomer's table. Her meeting was forgotten. Now the only thoughts that plagued the girl's mind were ones of survival.
"Hello." she said lightly, almost friendly. Namoi had had years of perfecting her acting abilities. Within seconds her threatening demeanor had vanished, replaced by the expressionless mask she wore so well.

Sapphire slipped into the Rogue and smiled. This would be the last time she would visit the Rogue in a long time. She was heading to the Yamani Islands in a few days to debate the peace treaties. Part of could not wait to get back to her homeland, but part of her did not want to leave the security of the place she now called home. She looked around for some familiar faces and found Nadia's. She didn't really know her that well, but they had been involved in some, should we say, shady business last time Fhire had been in the Rogue. That seemed such a long time ago.
She walked over to Nadia, who was with a girl with cropped hair and cool black eyes. She smiled slightly, "Hi Nadia," she said a little cautiously. Who was this other girl? She seemed a bit cold. She wore the Yamani mask, that Sapphire had pent years perfecting, but that she easily let slip after to many years in Tortall. "Hello." she said to the newcomer.

Namoi's snarky remark was bitten back at the appearance of another Yamani. She took in the familiar eyes and the dark hair. It had been years since she had come face to face with another islander, and for a split second Namoi had thought that she was looking at her younger sister. That was impossible though, because Kirra was dead.
Instead of answering, Namonai gave a curt nod to the other Yamani, and then turned her attention back towards the other girl. "Some other time..." she said, but Namoi had no intentions of ever approaching her again. What she had been planning to say to the girl named Nadia was foolish. She had let her impatience get the better of her and then almost acted without thinking. Maybe she was spending too much time among these weaklings.
The girl returned to her own table, but this time sat so that her back was to the rest of the room. She prefered to brood alone. If that fool didn't show his cowardly face soon...."I'll kill him." she said under her breath.

Wayne was walking through the streets, enjoying his day off immensely. He was dress ordinarily, like a commoner, to avoid drawing attention. Glancing around, his eyes landed on the pub. Haven't been here in a while... Wayne thought silently. He strolled in casually, and ordered a drink, thankful that he wasn't in uniform or the rogues here might either kill him or cause a ruckus.
He looked around the Dancing Dove, to have his eyes land on Sapphire. He got up, and walked over to her. She seemed to be talking with two other ladies, one a Yamani and the other a stragner. The icy coldness around the Yamani made it hard for him to trust her, but he reminded himself that he wasn't on duty today. Besides, he had no evidence that she was a rogue. He made a mental note to watch her.
"Lady Sapphire," Wayne said grandly, bowing. "Fancy catching you here." He grinned. "Who may your lady friend be?" He looked over Sapphire's friend and made a mental note to watch her, too. Something about her just didn't feel right.

She watched as Wayne walked in and smiled as he approuched, "Commander, it's good to see you again," She watched his gaze and felt a very guilty twinge, she probably shouldn't have mentioned Nadia's name, come to think of it. The Rogue was confusing. She looked at the other woman and the back at Wayne, "Um, now, I don't really know to be honest," She looked back at the woman and her guilt increased. And her suspisions increased somewhat to.
She frowned and tunred back to Wayne, "What are you doing in the Dove on such a good day?"

"I'm taking a day off. The king mentioned I was working too hard," Wayne said, his eyes twinkling, "So, for today, I'm just Wayne, the mere commoner. Your wish is my command."
He realized that he was in a very jolly mood today, which was very unusual, and very unwise. He must keep alert. Maybe this day off thing was a good idea. I feel a lot happier, he thought. He turned to face Sapphire's friend.
"My lady," Wayne said, bowing once more, but not as deep as Sapphire's bow, "Who may you be?"

Namoi frowned, which was a rare show of emotion when she wasn't working. Looking over her shoulder towards the door, her stomach dropped further. He still hadn't shown. Probably set me up, the bloody coward, she thought angrily.
She had talked with an old ally about finding her some temporary housing in the city. He had agreed, but now the Yamani wanted to throw her fists up in frustration. Apparently, good ol' Brem still didn't trust her. She had been crazy to think that he had gotten over their last meeting when she had tried to decapitate him. He could sure hold a grudge. It wasn't like she was still on that job, though. There was no reason for her to harm him. Now, Namoi imagined strangling the old bastard if she ever saw him again.
She closed her eyes and took a deep, shuddering breath. Namonai was alone. She couldn't help but remember those couple of weeks that she had been stranded in the wild. The fifteen year old had had no knowledge of hunting or building a fire; no way to survive. Opening her eyes, she returned to the present. She knew a lot more now, but there was still no place she could stay, and as far as money went....Well, she didn't have any at the moment. That would be sent to her in a few weeks. What the hell was she going to do until then?

She grinned at Wayne, "Well, you do deserve a break every now and again. HE's probably right." She knew how hard the knight commander worked. It was good to have a break once in a while, and he looked much happier than usual. She let her mind drift to the upcoming trip again. Wayne would be on that trip wouldn't he? So much for taking a break.
"My lady," Wayne said, bowing once more, but not as deep as Sapphire's bow, "Who may you be?"
She watched as Wayne bowed to the other woman and waited for her response. Who was she?

Nadia lounged, carefully portraying a laid back young woman in a pub. Her face, however, was impassive, and her usually warm brown eyes were an icy cold. Nadia watched as the Yamani stood up and walked over to Nadia's table, with a strange, almost feline grace. She almost looked like a predator getting ready for a meal.
Well, Nadia wouldn't be anyone's meal. The muscles in her arm tensed almost imperceptibly as she watched the other woman come up to her table.
"Hello." A strange, almost friendly voice aired the simple greeting from the Yamani. Nadia, being excellent at acting herself, suspected this being an act, and responded with the same. "Hello." The Yamani now had her blank, expressionless mask on that most wore so well.
Raising a single eyebrow in a silent question, Nadia continued, her voice continuing to be as light as if they were discussing the weather. "Yes?"
Her full attention on the Yamani, Nadia barely noticed Sapphire slip into the Rogue's notorious home and look around for a friendly face. Nadia did, however, see the distinctive Yamani walk over to her table, and when she said, "Hi Nadia," Nadia nodded, for Nadia's attention was still on the other Yamani, with the icy black eyes and short black hair.
"Some other time…" Nadia almost gave a wry smile as she watched the woman walk away, and sit at her table with her back to the room. I'm sure there will be another time… At least, I know I'll be watching you for a bit.
Now that she was gone, Nadia turned most of her attention to Sapphire, to whom she smiled warmly. "Hello." This greeting, however, was much different than the one she had given to the Yamani. Nadia flicked a particularly annoying piece of curly brown hair that had been dancing in front of her face. "How are you doing?"
Now that things were normal, or as normal as they would be in the circumstances, Nadia watched the hubbub of the rest of the inn from her peripheral vision as she centered her attention on Sapphire. It was from this peripheral vision that she noticed another strange person come in. This one was a man, tall, with a strong build and a fighter's position. Nadia would also bet that he was a noble. A Knight then, or in the King's Own, probably. Nadia, inwardly cursing somewhat, watched as he made his way over to her table. It'll be a regular party soon!
"Lady Sapphire," Wayne said grandly, bowing. "Fancy catching you here." He grinned. "Who may your lady friend be?" He looked over Sapphire's friend and made a mental note to watch her, too. Something about her just didn't feel right.
"Um, now, I don't really know to be honest. What are you doing in the Dove on such a good day?"
Nadia had to smile somewhat as she watched Sapphire look uneasy as she looked between the two. And from Sapphire's comment before, Nadia could safely assume this was a commander, most likely the commander of the King's Own or something similar. It also confirmed Nadia's suspicions that this was a noble.
"I'm taking a day off. The king mentioned I was working too hard," Wayne said, his eyes twinkling, "So, for today, I'm just Wayne, the mere commoner. Your wish is my command."
"My lady," Wayne said, bowing once more, but not as deep as Sapphire's bow, "Who may you be?"
Nadia watched for a few moments before bowing her head. She was a commoner and he a noble after all. Most nobles would get huffy if they thought that commoners disrespected them. Not that most of them deserved respect, but you know. As if to go against this, Nadia matched his eyes with her brown ones, before replying, "Ama." She left it cut short, as if deliberately leaving out the "if it pleases your lordship." Or whatever else people would say.

Kira watched people come in. She listened to the conversations. Lady Sapphire, one was called the other name she didn't catch, but he was called “commander." What were two nobles doing in a place like this? Were they looking for thieves?
She sat thinking, if she hadn't been a player or a warrior, she might have chosen to be a rouge, it was a game she and her twin used to play until their father explained the true horror of life on the streets, though he had taught them how to pick locks and pockets on the condition that they would only use these talents in an emergency.
She heard her mother enter and grab her shoulder. "I knew it was useless to warn you away from this place. we need to go, I've got a room somewhere else." "Okay mother." They both walked out, her mother could say what she wanted, she planed on coming back.

Namonai clenched her fists in frustration. Just the thought of sleeping on the streets with the rest of the cities rats made her shudder. There was no way she would stoop to that. Namoi wasn't a weak, desperate little girl anymore. She was a fighter and a surviver. The only problem was that Namoi's pride prevented her from asking for help when she really needed it, like now. With Brem, Namonai had threatened him into finding her temporary housing. There had been no 'please' and 'thank you.' If she had to wander the streets of Corus all night without food, then she'd do it without protest. Though with her skills of thievery and stealth, hopefully she wouldn't have to do that.
She pushed her chair back and stood. It was pointless to just sit there. Brem obviously wasn't going to show. Knowing him, the old fool had probably left the city to avoid the Yamani woman, thinking that there was still a price for his head. Namoi turned and didn't bother looking at the table of the one named Nadia. There was the uneasy feeling of being watched as she made her way out of the Dancing Dove and onto the streets. She turned into an alley and then leaned against a wall. The young woman felt safer away from the suspicious eyes, and her mind cleared enough so that she began coming up with a different plan of attack.
