"How did he offend someone so high? And who was the person so high?" Heradite asked, preparing to lunge if needed. With one eye, he looked at the gaurd, who was sweating. The gaurd didn't have enough money to the lord, it seemed. Suddenly his whole attention was back to 'Imiary' and he simply said "Answer now."
Some gaurds came up to Rose and welcomed her. One said "The Prince would see you, but there is a troublemaker by the name of Imiary, though the Prince thinks it's a cover-up name. That is why he hasn't greeted you. Would you like some tea as you wait?" he asked the girl. He wondered who this new girl was, and if she was a threat.
Another gaurd sighed, another guest. Usually, there were no guets, one if they were lucky. It looks like with Aly coming to visit her little office here, many guests started to come, which meant he would have a longer duty.

Rose whirled around when she heard footsteps behind her. Her amethyst eyes sparkled brilliantly in the lighted hallway. Her hand shifted down to the sword that should've been around her waist, but she'd left it off to be polite. Now, in its place, was a daggar. Rose would never go around unarmed, if she couldn't have her sword, she'd take the dagger. She turned around to face some guards, and she visibly relaxed. They were just a welcoming committee.
The Prince would see you, but there is a troublemaker by the name of Imiary, though the Prince thinks it's a cover-up name. That is why he hasn't greeted you. Would you like some tea as you wait?"
Rose smiled warmly at the guard. She'd play along.
"That'd be wonderful." she simpered. "But when you get a chance, would you tell the prince that the Lady Knight Roseanna of Castlemaine awaits him? It's dreadfully important. I've been sent here on a mission from their Majesties of Tortall." she said.
She allowed the guards to lead her off to a seperate room, further away from the one that Avelia and the Prince were in. Her curiosity itched to know what was going on...anything that made Avelia travel away from Tortall was something worth finding out.
She looked at her worn traveling clothes, then decided that she'd best look at least somewhat like a lady when the prince arrived. She whispered some words under her breath when the guards backs were turned and her worn traveling clothes were replaced with a simple but elegant amethyst cotton gown, and her hair was coifed elegantly to her head. She smiled secretly. Now to find out what was going on.

A small little man came up to Rose and stated "Hello Lady. I will lead you to the Prince, and hopefully, everything will be ok." The man had a crooked nose, and was pretty weak-looking. Yet under hsi shoulder he was carrying a book. A glimpse of the title could read The Basics of Cook Ma-[/b] though nothing more could be seen.
Heradite awaited the answer of the mysterious girl.

Rose's amethyst eyes sparkled as she read the title of the book:
The Basics of Cook Ma-
Probably Magic. she said to herself.
"Thank you. That'd be wonderful. Isn't he down that hall? I could've sworn I heard a man's voice down there." she said, pointing down the hall. And Avelia's. she thought dryly. I want to know why she's here.
She followed the man to where he was leading her...

(OOC: Can someone get a hold on avelia, wether or not she is backing out? I don;t want ot leave her behind)
"Yes ma'am but that way would be the normal entrance. Important people enter through the side balcony." Indeed he was leading Rose to a balcony, and there a room. From the balcony you could see Heradite poinitng a sword at the wierd girl, and a guard who looked worried nearby. The little short man then said "Hmm..their not finished yet. Oh dear"

Rose shrugged and followed the man out onto the balcony. She didn't consider herself exceptionally important, even though she was of noble birth. When she reached the balcony she finally glimpsed the drama that was going on in the room.
Avelia sat on a large comfortable chair, looking as cool and calm as ever. Another larger man, wearing the outfit of a guard, stood some distance away from her, looking scared out of his wits. And standing next to the guard was a young man with a sword pointing at Avelia. That must be Heradite. Rose thought. She frowned, her usually bright sparkling amethyst eyes darkening. She turned to the man who had led her into the balcony.
"Thank you for your help. It's been greatly appreciated. Now if you'll excuse me, I have some business to attend to." she said to the man, before shifting into a black eagle with amethyst eyes and flying into the room. She flew to a halt and landed in the middle of the room, between Heradite and his guard and Avelia. She shifted back and crossed her arms across her chest.
"Put your sword away Heradite. Avelia is no threat." she said lightly. She stopped. "Before I go further, I guess I'd better introduce myself. I'm Lady Knight Roseanna of Castlemaine, but you may call me Rose." she said, before turning to Avelia.
"Avelia. Hello. What brings you to the Copper Isles, and Tanair Estates no less." she questioned Avelia.

>Year 11 was not designed with spare time in mind <
"It doesn't take much to offend the delicate sensibilities of a nobleman. Actually, he won a rigged gamewheel. I was sent here to collect an ear but that's barbaric, isn't it? I'm not sure yet if I'll collect. Queens don't take orders, as you'd know, but I'm watching you."
Maybe not quite what she'd had in mind to say, but Rose had come in now and Avelia had other things to deal with. The truth was, Avelia had been sent on a spy mission. It was primarily to check up on the particular guard, report back on weak points in the estate in case her client became overly offended and decided to attack, and keep an eye out for stirrings in the Isles. Yet Avelia was a contrary sort of girl, any that wished to hire her had to remember that she had her own mind whilst she could pull off your mission blindfolded and tied to a post, she was just as likely to get bored with it and run off with the down payment.
So she planned to stick around the estate for a while, sorting out her own priorities and gauging opportunities for the Rogue. Only a few months ago, it had been in this way that she had gained Jakelonge fief....talking about Jakelonge fief....Rose was here. Avelia held more respect for Rose than any other nobles but it still didn't mean she was overly excited by her presence. "Could say the same about you, Rose darl," she replied. In a cheery tone, she added to Heradite, as if they were already old friends, "Rose didn't like it much when I conquered my last fief."

Rose raised an eyebrow. Avelia had hit a sore spot there. Rose considered losing Jakelonge a failure, but there had been some...leverage in Avelia's taking over the fief.
Avelia had been working with Necelan, a former rogue who, unfortunately, was now dead because of the fight. Avelia had captured Tammia of Jakelonge, and had used her to win over the fief. Not wanting Tammia to be hurt in any way, Rose had sworn a blood oath, promising that neither she, nor her men, would come anywhere near the fief.
Now Avelia was back. In Tanair Estates. Which meant that although this...guard, or whoever he was, was possibly not Avelias priority. Rose eyed Avelia. She held Avelia in respect, because Avelia was probably the best Rouge Queen out there, but still, there was the matter of being a Rouge, and Rose was sworn to uphold the law.
"Could say the same about you, Rose darl."
"Oh, you know, the same sort of stuff. Keeping tabs on our Allies, looking in on different countries, searching for the witch Cynthia of Longlake, that sort of stuff. You haven't answered me though Avelia." she said cooly.
"Rose didn't like it much when I conquered my last fief."
"You're right, I consider that a failure." she said coolly. "Giving a blood oath and retreating wasn't exactly what I had in mind when fighting, but you did have some leverage there." she commented.

"Congured? Well seeing as how you look like your from Tortall, conquering this property would cause a war. Something I don't wish to happen." Heradite said. He did put away his sword and turned around, to look at the new lady. "Hello Lady Rose, I take it then this liar belongs to you?" He asked her.
The gaurd slowly sneaked out fo the room, hoping Avelia would leave soon. Heradite then offered a seat to Rose, it was a nic elooking seat, one which was ofr osmeone of importance. HE remained standing as the gaurds relaxed outside. Heradite then said "Lady Rose is welcome to stay in the castle, though I can't say the same baout Avelia until she swears a blood oath she won;t harm a single person while on this property, and she will not take anything from this castle, inclufing the estates."

"Belongs?" Avelia said scornfully, with a look of implacable calm. "I told you I was a Queen, didn't I? Look at me and ask yourself, could I ever belong to anyone?" She didn't particularly care about the liar jibe. She'd mostly told the truth in this instance, but it amused her that those who accused her of being a liar weren't always truthful themselves. They tended to judge on what they did not know. She turned to Rose, wearing that infuriatingly blank expression on her face.
"If you'd been listening, which I'm fairly sure you were, eavesdropping being one of everybody's favourite pastimes, I said I was here to keep an eye on things. Besides, you should try being willing to make sacrifices sometime. Works like a charm. And as for you," she turned back to Heradite, "I'm most pleased that you've invited me to stay. Of course I won't make you take a blood oath and I promise I won't interfere more than I think is necessary. "

Heradite looked at Avelia and said "Somehow I think I should be worried. And I am." He then sat down, as his feet were gettng tired. "And by interfere more than necessary what do you mean?" In his mind he was hoping the Trickster, Kyprioth, wasn't her deity god or it would mean bad news. For everyone in this room, staying at the castle.
He also answered the belonging quetion "Since I never heard of your kingdom, and it is obvious your from Tortall, Queen Dove would obviously attack Tortall."

"Hello Lady Rose, I take it then this liar belongs to you?"
Rose laughed lightly.
"Belong? Avelia belongs to no one but herself. She lives by her own rules and her rules alone. 'Tis the way of the rouge. And Avelia is no liar. She is trustworthy, for a rouge, though she can stretch the truth at times." she said. She declined the offer of the chair graciously, preferring to stand up in case something did in fact go wrong. Glancing down at her outfit, she rolled her eyes. If something did go wrong, she'd be of no use in this outfit. She snapped her fingers and once again was in breeches, tunic, boots, and sword belt.
"Lady Rose is welcome to stay in the castle, though I can't say the same baout Avelia until she swears a blood oath she won;t harm a single person while on this property, and she will not take anything from this castle, inclufing the estates."
Wise move their young prince. Never, ever trust a rouge. she thought to herself.
"If you'd been listening, which I'm fairly sure you were, eavesdropping being one of everybody's favourite pastimes, I said I was here to keep an eye on things. Besides, you should try being willing to make sacrifices sometime. Works like a charm."
Rose rolled her eyes.
"Of course I was eavesdropping. Who doesn't now a days. After the whole thing with Baelincius and Cynthia, one doesn't just stand around and wait for news to come. You find out on your own." she said matter-of-factly. "And I'm willing to make sacrifices plenty of times, maybe just not during a particular time of month." she said wryly.

"Maybe eavsdropping in Tortall is common, but in the Copper Isles only spies eavesdrop, that and Aly. Probably doing it right now." He told Rose, then back to the woman he wondered wether or not she would swear the blood oath.
Then turning back to Rose he said "Strecthing the truth? No she lied plain and simple, calling herself at first a servant and making up a name. Anyway, rouges lie. nly way they can get stuff."

"I'm about as Tortallan as you," Avelia said softly, warningly, "and I think you should be more careful about who you call a liar. The estate may belong to you but that's no protection. I couldn't tell you exactly what my name was if I chose to- Imiary is who I am in the Copper Isles. No, I'm about as much of a liar as you are, my prince," she spat out, mockingly.
"By that, sweet, I mean I fully intend on accomplishing what I've come for. Should things not be going to plan I'll nudge them a bit in the right direction. It would do you good to remember that should Queen Dove choose to war with Tortall, that is none of my concern. It's not a threat. It's a statement of fact," she continued, confidently. Avelia held no allegiance to Tortall, had no attachment. It was this fact that would make her a dangerous person to have in the Isles.

"Imiary is still not your real name. They belong to me, and whoever stays here that is under suspicion will ahve to swear a blood oath they will try NOTHING to the estates or its citizens. You are under suspicion. If your not a liar, why did you lie about being a servant?" He ignored the disrespect he heard, though he was annoyed.
"Am I allowed to know what your little accomplisment is, other than the guard? Or will I be always be at war with you, my Queen??" He finished glaring at her.
