"I've heard of this spell...it can be dead useful in the career of a rouge, possibly a knight, or a spy. I should've used it countless times, though I refused to. Stupid really."
Avelia had no such qualms herself. In the beginning of her career she had used that very spell- bought, or on the rare occasions she could bring herself to ask, cast by a mage in her acquaintance, since she had no such magic herself. But as she'd grown older and better her pride caused her to discard the spell. Cynthia, however, would no doubt lean heavily on her magic as a crutch...her lip curled in distaste. Cheater.
"Would ye be able to see the colour of 'er magic? There a spell fer tha'?" she asked. She was of course referring to the stone Aly's mother had come into possession of- could it be duplicated? That was god magic, but if there was another such artifact, or if Aly herself had inherited the stone...Her mind whirred. Was there another way?
"An amateur'd get past the docks, an' Cynthia ain't anythin' if she's an amateur. " The docks were notoriously crowded, providing plenty of opportunity to lose oneself in the sea of people. Particularly disguised by magic as the woman was likely to be. "There also be many with unusual eyes, Highness." Her own, for example. Besides, Cynthia's were not so unusual in colour as recognisible to one who had spent time with her.

"Understandable. I'd probably say the same thing if I were in your shoes. All the same, I'd like to leave the men I brought with Aly so that they can be trained. Her father would've done it himself, but the King keeps him busy, so he told me to bring them to Aly instead."
Alianne smiled slighty, hazel eyes sparkling at the thought of something new. Tortallans didn't think like Copper Islanders. No, this was going to be fun. "That's fine. I'd be more than happy to take them on. It always good experience to learn as much as you can from different people," she replied, "As long as they are competent. Though Heradite is right, in this case. I can't say how many. Enough, though, I have enough." "I've heard of this spell...it can be dead useful in the career of a rouge, possibly a knight, or a spy. I should've used it countless times, though I refused to. Stupid really."
"There nothing wrong with the spell," Aly commented thoughtfully, "It's like all tools. there is no right or wrong. It really depends on who's using it, for what." Alianne herself had used such a spell. She was a spy, after all. But she wasn't evil. A spell like that in the wrong hands... well, the end picture wasn't very pretty. Cynthia would use the spell to her own advantage, to save her own d**ned skin.
"Would ye be able to see the colour of 'er magic? There a spell fer tha'?"
There was Avelia again. Incredibly intellegent woman. "There's no spell that I know. I can, with my Sight, but I can't give my skills to Goddess knows how many agents. And my mother can, I suppose, with the ingenious pendant of hers. But, I don't know about any other method, unfortunately." Now there was an idea. The feel of a persons magic was always unique, if not the colour. If only the network had her talents...
"An amateur'd get past the docks, an' Cynthia ain't anythin' if she's an amateur. There also be many with unusual eyes, Highness."
"I know," Aly said, sighing, "That's why this is such a problem. I'll send word. I don't think she'll flaunt her magic just yet, and she's got too much pride to ever act a servant. Rumours on the street are dead useful, in cases like these."

"There's no spell that I know. I can, with my Sight, but I can't give my skills to Goddess knows how many agents. And my mother can, I suppose, with the ingenious pendant of hers. But, I don't know about any other method, unfortunately."
Apparently, on the rare times magic could be useful- Avelia inwardly shuddered at the thought- it couldn't be employed to full extent. Well that would do them no good. She'd been hoping that Aly would at least be able to use this talent to some good- Avelia herself had already steeled herself for a use of magic. But in the real world, the game of tactics and strategy, more often than not, sides were disadvantaged against each other.
"Well then," she began, thinking out loud, "if yer spies'll get jus' an idea, ye'd be able to scout 'em out. Hopefully, unless yer needed somewhere else. Well, there's certain mannerisms ye ain't like to lose, unless yer in the business. Ah think we'd be able to get a clue from those. But, migh' be a costly, time consumin' business, 'cos people are like to panic seeing jus' one gesture[/i] they ken associate wi' 'er. They donna see the full picture..."[/color] Avelia shut her mouth, before her thoughts became any more confusing to the others in the room. In her mind, it made clear sense- she could after all identify a lot of people by the tilt of their head, the way they held themselves- but could it be done on a full scale? Her Rogues, well, she'd trained them that way, so yes. But her Rogue network was vastly different than a whole army of spies.
"I know. That's why this is such a problem. I'll send word. I don't think she'll flaunt her magic just yet, and she's got too much pride to ever act a servant. Rumours on the street are dead useful, in cases like these."
"The wrong rumour'd be deadly. A bi' of overexcitement, an' she'll be off again. Unless, there be a solid reason she'd be in tha' Isles. In which case, she'll most certainly use 'er magic if she 'asn't yet. 'Ave we narrowed down locations where she'd like to be? Where she's goin', an' all tha'?"

Rose grinned.
"They're very competent. Your father evaluated them before sending them over." she said.
"There nothing wrong with the spell, it's like all tools. there is no right or wrong. It really depends on who's using it, for what."
Rose nodded. That was very true. Magic itself wasn't evil, nor was it good...it was in between. But it all depended on the person using the magic. In this case Cynthia would probably use it for evil.
"Would ye be able to see the colour of 'er magic? There a spell fer tha'?"
There was Avelia again...and she had a point. The color...
"There's no spell that I know. I can, with my Sight, but I can't give my skills to Goddess knows how many agents. And my mother can, I suppose, with the ingenious pendant of hers. But, I don't know about any other method, unfortunately."
Rose thought for a moment, back to her enterance. The man who had led her here...he had a book...it'd said something about Magic...
There has to be some way...I wonder if there's a library of magic books around here somewhere...
"I have an idea," she said to Aly. "Excuse me your Highness, but do you have a library in the premises with books of magic? I think I could find a spell that would help us." she said, her eyes sparkling fiercely. She wanted Cynthia caught, and now wasn't a moment to soon.
An amateur'd get past the docks, an' Cynthia ain't anythin' if she's an amateur. There also be many with unusual eyes, Highness."

"Where do the docks lead directly to? Do they lead into the marketplace? That'd be a perfect place to blend in. We should have people check there." she said.
Rose nodded.
